Mijas Costa
What's it like in Mijas Costa?

Mijas Costa lies to the west of Malaga and covers the coastal areas of west of Fuengirola, including La Cala de Mijas, Riviera del Sol and Calahonda right up to the border with Marbella at Cabopino. Mijas Costa is part of the municipality of Mijas and has around 12km of beautiful sandy beaches. There’s a strong sense of community and all the local facilities are easily accessible. You definitely won’t find yourself without anything to do in Mijas Costa because, as well as the beaches, the area is packed full of golf courses, sports & recreation facilities and amusement parks for the kids.

Calahonda is a thriving community, perfectly situated almost equidistant between Malaga and Marbella. Calahonda enjoys some of the best views on the coast, so it’s worth driving to the highest point, which is the little white monument that you can see from most of the surrounding area, and enjoying the spectacular views of Gibraltar and Africa. Close by are plenty of sun-drenched golden beaches, the popular Miraflores golf course (which boasts its own excellent restaurant which is open to visitors), the lawn tennis club, and the Club del Sol which hosts some high-profile tennis championships. The El Zoco commercial centre (within easy walking distance from the apartment) has plenty of shopping, eating and entertainment.

Riviera del Sol is just a short distance from the apartment. Sparkling sea and quiet beaches can be enjoyed from many of the beach bars and restaurants, or there’s the peaceful Princess Diana Park and Gardens to while away a few hours in the sun.

The nearby town of La Cala de Mijas is a charming former fishing village, which manages to retain its character and yet still cater for the multinational range of holidaymakers, with a wide range of sporting activities in and around La Cala. Naturally there are several competition standard golf courses, where tuition and equipment is available. A 10 minute drive into the hills behind La Cala takes you into some of the most picturesque countryside in the area with a selection of stables offering riding lessons and horse hire. If you prefer to watch the horses rather than ride them then the recently built Hipodromo del Costa del Sol race course on the outskirts of La Cala is the perfect place for all the family.

Mijas Costa

Cabopino is a little harbour village with a small port area and some glorious beaches surrounded by sand dunes. Try one of the beach bars and enjoy a drink or some of their just-caught fish that’s sizzling on the barbecue, or take one of the boat trips along the coast and maybe even catch some of your own lunch. On summer evenings you can enjoy traditional Spanish flamenco in the Plaza as you watch the sun go down. Those who enjoy a little more exercise can choose from one 9-hole course for beginners and two 18-hole courses - La Siesta and Cabopino – which are within putting distance.
